Microblading Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Answers to common microblading questions to help you prepare and decide.

Microblading typically lasts 12 to 24 months, depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Oily skin and sun exposure can cause faster fading. We recommend touch-ups every 12–18 months to maintain color and shape for optimal results.

Most clients experience mild discomfort rather than sharp pain. We apply topical numbing cream before and during the treatment to minimize sensation. Sensitivity varies; many compare it to light scratching. Afterwards, any discomfort subsides quickly and is manageable with normal aftercare.

Healing occurs in stages: initial darkness and scabbing for the first week, followed by lightening and color settling over 4–6 weeks. Avoid water, makeup, and sun during early healing. A touch-up is scheduled after 6–8 weeks to perfect strokes and pigment retention.

Most clients qualify, but certain conditions prohibit treatment: active skin infections, keloid scarring, uncontrolled diabetes, pregnancy, or recent cosmetic procedures. Blood-thinning medications and severe acne near the brow may require medical clearance. We review medical history during consultation to ensure safety.

Avoid alcohol, caffeine, aspirin, and NSAIDs for 24-48 hours before your appointment. Stop retinol and chemical peels one week prior. Arrive with clean skin and no brow tinting for at least two weeks. Bring references and discuss desired shape at consultation.

Microblading uses handheld strokes to mimic hair for a natural, textured look; Powder brows use a machine or shading technique for a soft, filled-in, makeup-like finish. Combo brows combine both for realistic hair strokes plus subtle shading for fuller brows.
